Balboa Park Veterans Museum’s Flag Day Celebration
From one musical ‘gem’ on one night – the Bach Collegium San Diego, to another – the WESTWIND BRASS Ensemble, San Diego is blessed with superb mucicality in its diverse groups. On this day – Flag Day – the Veterans Museum and Memorial Center played host to Barry Toombs’ five-member WESTWIND BRASS Ensemble in a concert of varied war time tunes.
Westwind Goes to School
The educational focus of each Westwind Brass school performance is that music is for everyone!
In fulfilling its mission, Westwind Brass engages children and adults through a variety of outreach/educational experiences: lecture-demonstrations, workshops, master classes, and in-school concerts. Over the past 21 years, Westwind Brass has provided musical performances for over 350,000 students, and is a proud new Arts Partner with the San Diego Unified School District, Grade Level Arts Experience and the Balboa Park Program for 5th Grade students.
We could not provide this service to the community without the strong support of many individual, institutional and corporate partners. We would like to thank this year’s educational outreach supporters for your investment in our community: City of San Diego, Commission for Arts and Culture, County of San Diego Communty Enhancement Fund, the Community Service Association, William Hall Tippett & Ruth Rathell Tippett Foundation, Las Patronas, the Maurice J. Masserini Charitable Trust, the US Consulate Tijuana, HME, Sempra Energy, QUALCOMM, ACMP Foundation, Nick Rail Music, GoogleGrants, ACMP “The Chamber Music Network”, and the Clinton B. Ford Fund of its ACMP Foundation and the ExxonMobil Foundation.
